Dear Students,

as of now you can apply for ProTalent-Scholarships in the funding year 2020/2021. The programme is aimed at students who have achieved good to very good academic performance to date, and at first-year students whose previous achievements give reason to expect successful studies. In addition, the personal career path, social commitment and special social, family or personal circumstances are taken into account. In addition to the financial incentives (approx. 300 EUR per month for 1 year), the programme enables, for example, contacts to companies that are involved in the programme as donors. The online application is possible until 16 June 2020 at www.go.wwu.de/htxqx.

Survey of Electives (project seminars and conventional seminars), Winter Term 2020/21

To plan elective courses in Winter Term 2020/21, a preliminary survey is conducted.

If you are willing to  participate to a seminar or project seminar, please join this survey in the Learnweb:

https://www.uni-muenster.de/LearnWeb/learnweb2/mod/feedback/view.php?id=1601846

Of course, your choice is nonbinding, but, nevertheless, we ask for serious answers, as this avoids us from planning both too few and too many courses (a disadvantage for students and lecturers as well)

The survey will be closed on 2020/06/05

Note that the binding application phase for seminars/project seminars will take place at a later time and, of course, will be announced in the coordinators' blog separately. Students who have participated in this preliminary survey will be priorized during assignment provided they have participated in the binding application phase, too.

https://www.uni-muenster.de/LearnWeb/learnweb2/mod/feedback/view.php?id=1601827

[Bachelor/Master] Upcoming summer semester 2020

Liebe Studierende, dear students (english version below)

English version:
Under normal circumstances the summer semester would start these days. During the past days and weeks the School as well as entire University engaged intensively in the preparatory work for a smooth start of the semester in these most unsual times.
The Dean has already communicated a number of points in her email to all of you.
I would like to take the opportunity and share a few complementary points with you:

  • All lectures have set up their courses on Learnweb. Everyone of you who intends to participate in these courses, should enroll to them on Learnweb. The list with courses offered by the Department during the summer semester can be found here: https://www.wi.uni-muenster.de/student-affairs/course-offerings
  • For the time being, these Learnweb-courses are not secured with an enrollment key. This should mitigate possible hick-ups in the beginning of the semester.
  • You will find that some Learnweb-courses do already contain some informative content in the context of the respective course. However, courses do start on the 20th of April, not before! There are no lectures before that date.
  • The particular organization of the course, its schedule and mode of delivery will be communicated via the respective Learnweb-course. Because of this, I would like to stress again to enroll as soon as possible for these courses.
All the best, stay healthy and a good start into the summer semester 2020,
Stefan Schellhammer

Upcoming Summer Semester

Dear students,

you have all been contacted by the rectorate of the university that the semester start has been postponed until April 20th. Please continue to pay close attention to the announcements made by the rectorate: https://www.uni-muenster.de/de/en/coronavirus-information.html

The IS department is in close cooperation with the Dean’s office and the rectorate. Along with our colleagues we are working on contingency plans to ensure the continuance of your studies under these difficult circumstances. We are confident that together with your cooperation we will meet the challenges in terms of teaching as well as examination. We are trusting on your cooperation and acceptance that this semester will be anything but “business as usual”.

While these contingency plans for the upcoming semester are maturing, we would like establish effective communication channels with you:

1.       Please pay attention to your university email account. The rectorate sends around updates via this channel alongside the official website: https://www.uni-muenster.de/de/en/coronavirus-information.html

2.       Make sure that you and your fellow IS-students are enrolled to the study coordinator Learnweb course: https://www.uni-muenster.de/LearnWeb/learnweb2/course/view.php?id=27915. For us it is the easiest way to keep all IS-students posted.

3.       In a few days, all courses, seminars and other modules offered by our department will have their Learnweb-courses online. Please enroll or register to those courses that you intend to take in the summer semester. Again, it allows us to quickly address particular groups of students.

In line with the rectorate’s strategy, we try to limit the need for physical contact between employee’s and students of the department. As a result, all rooms, normally available to students have been closed. You may contact the Chairs, your supervisors by email and phone. They are happy to provide help and support in a virtual setting.

Best Regards and stay healthy!

[Bachelor/Master] Umfrage/Survey zu Doppelabschlussabkommen

Dear students,

our school currently develops a double degree program for the Master IS together with the University of Twente in Enschede, The Netherlands (approx. 75 km from Münster). The University of Twente is a strategic partner of WWU and we have long-term established contacts and student exchange. The new program will broaden your study options and will deepen the partnership between the two institutions. However, the University of Twente has some administrative procedures for the introduction of a double degree program and one is a market survey. We therefore have developed a little survey and would kindly ask you to take part in this survey, in order to take the next step for the introduction of the new program.

Please go to the following page (shortlink): http://go.wwu.de/evasys

The password is: doubledegreeis

Thank you very much for your support!

Liebe Studierende,

Information about the new structure of MScIS

The new track structure in Master Studies of Information Systems is now in its (hopefully) final state.

You can find informations concerning the curriculum on our information site for prospective students.

The updated module compendium can be found in a preliminary version here (but also at the above mentioned site). The official binding version together with the updated examination rules will be published by the examination board at a later time - but the differences to the preliminary version are expected to be very minimal.
