WWU once again receives fourth place at the Logistics Masters Competition

With more than 225 billion Euros in sales and over 2.85 million employees, logistics is one of the most important pillars of the German economy. These findings are one reason why the Logistics-Management lecture is one elective offered to business administration students in Münster. The high quality of teaching on this subject at WWU speaks for itself. At the Logistics Masters Competition, the biggest competition for logistics students in Germany, the WWU once again received fourth place against the best logistics university departments and universities of Applied Sciences in Germany.

Prospective business economists and business data processing specialists will be encouraged as part of the module “Logistics-Management”, to take part in the Logistics Masters Competition. „During their Bachelor studies, students should not only attend lectures, but also actively deal with the content being taught. The challenging questions presented and the practice oriented design of the Logistics Masters Competition enables an intensive engagement with logistics and encourages participating students to have a lot of fun”, says Professor Dr.-Ing. Bernd Hellingrath, head of The Chair for Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at WWU. The WWU regularly competes in this competition and always does well. In 2012, the information systems student Timm Weber was awarded one of the three main prizes given during the competition.

Every year more than 1,600 students from over 160 universities take part in Germany’s biggest logistics competition. The competition is organized by the magazine VerkehrsRundschau, in cooperation with the logistics service provider Dachser. During the competition, every participant who achieves a score over 85 percent will be decorated with the title „Top-Logistics-Student“ and will be included in VerkehrsRundschau’s online-recruiting-catalogue. In addition, the three main prize winners will receive attractive rewards and a certificate for their CV.

Students of the module “Logistics-Management” at the chair for information systems and supply chain management will have the opportunity next summer to take part in the competition. Interested students can register until August 16th. From the end of January until the end of July, a questionnaire will be sent out with ten questions which need to be answered. These will be published on the last Friday of every month. The questions are provided by well-known professors.
