Vacant associate professor position in information systems at University of Agder, Norway

The University of Agder invites applications for a full-time permanent position as Associate Professor in Information Systems at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Information Systems, located in Kristiansand, Norway.

In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must hold a PhD in Computer Science or Information Systems. The candidate will be given teaching responsibilities in the systems development courses in the department’s bachelor and master programs, and must be able to document competence and experience in at least two of the following areas:


  • Object-oriented programming (currently our programming courses are mainly based on Java)

  • Databases (SQL)

  • Systems development methods and project work

The department has a focus on new forms of teaching, and is currently using the Personalized System of Instruction (PSI) in the programming courses. The candidate is expected to contribute to further development of the teaching methods in the department. Experience with open source software is also considered relevant.

In addition to strengthening the department’s teaching and research activity related to systems development, it is preferable that the candidate can contribute to other research areas in the department. The main research areas in the department are currently e-government, enterprise systems, e-health and crisis informatics.
