Abstract: A short introduction on what subject-oriented modeling is supposed to be, how it can be used, and why it is more than just another workflow notation.

Short Bio: Starting from 1st November 2024, Dr.-Ing. Matthes Elstermann will take on the role of Acting Professor at the Chair of Software Engineering. Previously, from March 2019 to October 2024, he was the Research Unit Lead for "Process Modeling and Management Applications in Engineering" at the Institute for Information Management in Engineering (IMI) at KIT. Prior to that, he worked as a Researcher and Lecturer at IMI/KIT from October 2012 to February 2019. His research focuses on agile development methods for cross-domain product and service innovation, strategic and early-stage product development, and the effective application of the Subject-Oriented Business Process Management (S-BPM) paradigm in engineering.
