Information Systems and Statistics
Welcome to the Information Systems and Statistics Group of Prof. Dr. Heike Trautmann!
We are focussing on statistical techniques for quantitative data analysis and their application in information systems, both in teaching and in research.
Basis statistics and mathematics courses are enhanced by an introductory lecture on operations research. Moreover, we offer specialized courses on multivariate statistical analysis, data mining and optimization.
Research focusses on optimization, in particular on multiobjective optimization tasks. The integration of statistical techniques into multiobjective metaheuristics such as evolutionary algorithms is of primary interest. Moreover, algorithm benchmarking as well as automated algorithm selection procedures are investigated in detail, both for continuous and combinatorial optimization problems.
Another important research field is statistical quality management, specifically optimization, stabilization and control of industrial process chains.
Moreover, we address Data Science issues related to Big Data applications such as omni-channel customer relationship management or propaganda detection in online media.
