Detailed understanding of risk is essential to the insurance industry, and the Science of Risk Prize is designed to challenge researchers and Lloyd’s insurers to stretch their thinking. Dr Dougal Goodman, Chair of the Prize Committee and Chief Executive of The Foundation for Science and Technology said: “The prize process has sent a strong signal to the research community that Lloyd’s is interested in research and finding new ways to apply it to improving underwriting”.

Under the direction of Professor Franziska Boehm (Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law) and Professor Rainer Böhme (Department of Information Systems), 16 students of law and information systems participated in a discussion about current legal issues of information security. The joint seminar took place at University of Münster’s Station of Marine Biology in Carolinensiel between August 25 and 29, 2014.

The University of Münster now hosts an international conference that sheds light on recent developments in the quickly evolving field of "IT forensics".

The International Conference on IT Security Incident Management & IT Forensics provides a platform for experts from throughout the world to present and discuss recent technical and methodical advances in the fields of IT security incident response and management and IT forensics. Already in its eighth edition, the IMF conference will be held in Münster this year, from May 12th through May 14th.
