Lunchtime Seminar - Introduction to the Industrial Data Space from an Information Modeling Perspective.

Tuesday, 29. May 2018 - 12:00 to Sunday, 13. October 2024 - 10:33, Leonardo-Campus 18

Speaker:  Jaroslav Pullmann, Fraunhofer FIT

Abstract:  The Industrial Data Space [1] initiative aims at establishing a „network of trust“ for a secure and reliable exchange of digital resources between business partners in dynamic value-creation scenarios. Regardless of the domain, the Data Space architecture [2] addresses issues related to the publication, search, negotiation, delivery, and the subsequent usage of data and reusable data processing applications in accordance with licensing terms of the sovereign resource provider. Catalog services link the offerings and requests of Data Space participants by means of a structured resource description (meta-data). Some description aspects are already covered by standard vocabularies (e.g. DCAT [3], PROV-O [4] and ODRL [5]) while domain-specific extensions and an overall integrated governance process had to be established. The talk introduces the goals of the Industrial Data Space, the main architecture components and the approach followed in modeling of the central Data Space assets, data and data processing applications.

Short Bio:  Jaroslav Pullmann (jaroslav.pullmann@fit.fraunhofer.de) is a research associate and PhD student at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT [6] in Birlinghoven. His research currently deals with topics of software architectures, user-centered design of catalog services and the application of Linked Data for information modeling and retrieval. He is co-chair of the IDS Sub-Working Group Architecture - Information Model and member of the W3C Dataset Exchange Working Group [7].
