Prof. Christian Grimme explains the principle of evolutionary algorithms

For many years, Prof. Christian Grimme has been working on evolutionary algorithms based on the underlying thoughts of the theory of biological evolution. Evolutionary algorithms are “computer applications which imitate biological evolutionary processes using simplified notions of models in order to provide specific solutions to complex problems”, says Prof. Grimme. He works with nature-inspired concepts, constructions and processes, also known as bionics.

In the current issue of the university newspaper “wissen|leben”, Prof. Grimme talks to Kathrin Kottke about the function and uses of this informatic-based approach.
