C³M hosts the ICT-DM 2017!

4th Edition of the International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Disaster Management (ICT-DM) in Münster!

The  Competence Center for Crisis Management (C³M) team is very happy to announce to be the host of the 4th Edition of the International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Disaster Management (ICT-DM)! The conference will be held in Münster, Germany from 11th of December to 13th of December 2017. ICT-DM’2017 aims to bring together academics and practitioners who are involved in emergency services, ad hoc planning and disaster management and recovery, in order to learn about the latest research developments, share experiences and information about this area and develop recommendations.

Accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.

Authors of selected papers from ICT-DM 2017 will be again invited to submit an extended and improved version to a special issue of the International Journal of Information Technology and Management (see also our previous International Journal of Information Technology and Management). Next to this, the conference will have a best paper and a best student paper award.

We are also very glad to announce the first two Key Note speakers

  • Prof. Mark Haselkorn, Director of the Center for Collaborative Systems for Security, Safety, and Regional Resilience (CoSSaR) at the University of Washington, and
  • Abdeslem Boukhtouta, Ph.D., Senior Defense Scientist at the Defence Research and Development Canada-CORA.

Moreover, on the second day of the conference we are organizing a “practitioner day” where the regular participants get the possibility to meet experienced practitioners and get insights into existing innovations, practices and technologies in the area of crisis management. We aim to have shorter paper presentation tracks with bigger breaks so that the participants get enough space to get in contact. Besides, we will organize a moderated “round tour” with the participants visiting each of the practitioner stands so everyone can briefly get an overview on the organization and some selected information and communication technologies they apply in the specific crisis management domains. We strongly believe this exchange between practitioners and scientists will enable rigor and relevant ICT innovations for disaster management.

Further information on the program will follow soon! For more information see the updated conference website ict-dm2017.ercis.org or contact us at ictdm2017@ercis.de.

We are looking forward to welcoming everybody in Münster!
