Matthias Kirchner and his team win IEEE Image Forensics Challenge

Matthias Kirchner of the IT security research group was part of a team that won the "1st IEEE IFS-TC Image Forensics Challenge". The contest was organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society and took place from June to October this year. In different phases of the contest, participants had to detect and localize image manipulations in a large set of thousands of digital images. With 100% accuracy, the "de.tector" team consisting of Thomas Gloe (dence GmbH, Dresden), Matthias Kirchner, and Christian Riess (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg), achieved the best score of all participants already shortly after the begin of the contest. Dr. Kirchner formally received the award on behalf of his team at the IEEE International Workshop on Information Forensics and Security in Guangzhou (China) today.
