Speaker: Prof. Michael Rosemann

Abstract: The future work of is comprehensively discussed, but the future of learning is not. This seminar is rested on the hypothesis that educational well-being will be in the future as important as physical or financial well-being. However, the current higher education sector is facing three learning disorders and a number of economic disorders creating a call for a new learning economy. Six new strategic pathways for providers of learning services will be presented which have been derived from out-of-sector studies. In sum, they lead to a comprehensive set of new education models which might change why we learn, how we learn and who is teaching us. This seminar is informed by two years of research that led to the publication of the book ‘The New Learning Economy’ (Routledge 2023) by Martin Betts and Michael Rosemann

Speaker Bio: Dr Michael Rosemann is the Director of QUT’s Centre for Future Enterprise and a Professor for Information Systems at Queensland University of Technology. His areas of interest Business Process Management, trust and innovation. Dr Rosemann is the author/editor of ten books, more than 350 refereed papers, Editorial Board member of ten international journals (incl. MISQ Executive) and co-inventor of US and European patents. His publications have been translated into Russian, Mandarin, German and Portuguese. Michael has established four industry funded Chairs at QUT and is also the Vice President Strategic Partnerships for the Association for Information Systems (AIS). He has been the Co-Chair of BPM 2007 and Program Co-Chair of ICIS 2018, and will be the Consolidation Chair for BPM 2024 and Conference Co-Chair for ICIS 2026. He has conducted invited keynotes at prestigious conferences such as BPM, ER and CAiSE, and will be the opening keynote speaker at Wirtschaftsinformatik 2023. Michael is also the Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany in Southern Queensland.
