Title: Gender Equality Plan for the Department of Information Systems at the University of Muenster.

Abstract: Since June 2016 and until May 2019 the Department of Information Systems at the University of Muenster participates in the EQUAL-IST (“Gender Equality Plans for Information Sciences and Technology Research Institutions”) international project funded by the EU (European Union) Horizon 2020 Framework Programme. The project goal is to introduce structural changes in the seven participating Information Sciences and Technology (IST) research institutions to enhance gender equality and diversity, as well as to improve work-family balance. Based on the internal gender audit conducted at the Department of Information Systems in January-June 2017, the identified challenges and the action plan to address them were summarised in the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) document. In this talk, the GEP will be presented, focusing on the planned implementation of selected actions.

Bio: Dr. Elena Gorbacheva completed her PhD in 2016 at the Department of Information Systems, University of Muenster (Muenster, Germany). In her PhD thesis Elena addressed the existing challenges of under-representation of women in the Information Systems (IS) field, as well as under-theorisation and immaturity of gender and IS research. Her research was published in the Business and Information Systems Engineering Journal, Enterprise Information Systems Journal, Australasian Journal of Information Systems, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, and several IS conferences. Elena was awarded the Leoni Warne Prize for Outstanding Publication in the Area of Women and IT in 2014 and the AIS (Association of Information Systems) Doctoral Student Service Award in 2015.
