Conversion of Business Process Models into Agent-based Simulation for Logistics: From BPMN to AnyLogic

The objective of this thesis is to formulate guidelines and a structured semi-automated process for the conversion of a business process model into an agent-based simulation model. To meet this objective, existing approaches and literature are synthesized to use BPMN to model multi-agent business processes, which are translated into agent-based simulations in AnyLogic according to a structured conversion process. The application of the guidelines and the implementation of the semi-automated conversion in a prototype application is evaluated based on a real-world case in the humanitarian logistics context.
