Issue Dynamics of Public Online Communication - Network and Content Analysis of Current Topics on Twitter

In this project we employ an automated network and word analysis as well as a relational content analysis. By doing so, we aim to identify "emerging" topics on Twitter in various economic and politcal fields. Eventually, the aim is obtaining insights into participation, the avoidance of journalism, the degree fragmentation of opinion and opportunities to take influence on the course of topics (Issue Management).

Social Media Monitoring of Political Communication in Germany

Central to the project are two sets of questions on topics and multipliers: What relevance do topics have, how will topics develop, and what issues are likely to become more important? Which actors are particularly influential because they are able to initiate discussions and to stimulate the proliferation of their messages? After the election, when the study material is fully present, more detailed analyzes will be conducted.
