Introducing the Flow Factory

Dienstag, 28. Oktober 2025 - 12:30 bis 13:30, Leo 18

Speaker: Dr. Thomas Haskamp

Abstract: How to rethink processes and technology? How can we then design technology based on this? Thomas Haskamp will present the Flow Factory's approach to these questions. As a joint research lab of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe and the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) at the University of Münster, it combines scientific excellence with practical relevance in the field of processes and artificial intelligence.
At the Flow Factory, a design-oriented research approach is pursued in order to address practical issues. The prototypes are developed in a human-centered and iterative way - in close collaboration with users. Evaluation is not just a final step, but accompanies the entire development process so that solutions can be continuously adapted and improved.

Short Bio: Thomas Haskamp is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Systems at the Chair of Information Systems and Business Process Management (University of Münster) and Managing Director of the Flow Factory. He is also an Academic Research Fellow at MIT's Center for Information Systems Research in Cambridge, Boston, USA, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Hasso Plattner Institute at the University of Potsdam in Germany. Thomas' research focuses primarily on unraveling the dynamics of digital innovation in different contexts, including start-ups and traditional industrial firms. In addition, he has a strong passion for research on digital sustainability. His work has been published in academic peer-reviewed journals such as ICIS, ECIS, HICSS, WI, and BISE, as well as practitioner-oriented publications such as MIT CISR Research Briefings.
