Speaker: Dr. Katrin Bergener and Dr. Armin Stein

Abstract: In 2024, ERCIS marks its 20th anniversary. Its progress since 2004 has been remarkable, laying the foundation for continued growth over the next two decades. In their presentation, Katrin and Armin will provide an overview of ERCIS' key accomplishments, ongoing initiatives, and future prospects. Additionally, they will explain the opportunities for PhD students, PostDocs and professors of being affiliated with the network and making the most of it 😊.

Short Bio: Dr. Katrin Bergener works as Managing Director for the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) at the Department of Information Systems at the University of Münster. The ERCIS network comprises more than 30 research institutions world-wide, working with more than 50 professors and more than 300 PhD students. Katrin graduated in linguistics, before earning her PhD in Information Systems in 2012. Her research interests span Virtual Group Work, Interaction of School Children with Artificial Intelligence, as well as ethics related to the Information Systems discipline. From 2018-2024, Katrin managed the University of Münster Center for Europe, organizing the University’s liaison to Brussels, and initiating international endeavors on a university level.

Dr. Armin Stein manages the ERCIS network together with Katrin. Armin followed the Münster Information Systems education path from the beginning, having earned his PhD in 2010. Aside from unsuccessful ethnographical research on time management, Armin is interested in Business Process Management, more specifically on the technological side of BPM. Furthermore, Armin is interested in Computer Gaming, specifically in the ethical aspects of computer games, and less specifically in dynamics of the gaming communities. Demonstrating his dedication to this topic, he spends a lot of his free time in this context. Aside from academia, Armin worked in the tourism sector, gaining some experience in creating good times for people.
