Abstract: In this lunchtime seminar, Stefan Klein will report on seven years of research on the digital transformation of academic publishing, exploring the “digital undertow” (Scott; Orlikowski 2022), which has profoundly changed the publishing ecosystem as well as academia. The analysis of the dark sides of digitalization will be used as a springboard to imagine alternative futures.

Short Bio: Dr. Stefan Klein is Professor for Interorganizational Systems at the School of Business and Economics, University of Münster, Germany. His research areas are information infrastructures, digitalization and risk, transformation of work. He studies practices of technology use and organizational transformation from an individual to an industry level.
