Entwicklung einer App für den SmartStick (BA/MA)

Zur Erleichterung des Alltags älterer Menschen wurde eine Vielzahl technischer Hilfsmittel geschaffen. Die neueste Entwicklung in diesem Bereich ist der SmartStick, ein smarter Gehstock der cibX GmbH. SmartStick lässt sich wie ein gewöhnlicher Gehstock zum Spazieren verwenden und verfügt darüber hinaus über ein GPS-Modul samt Internetanbindung und Alarmknopf. Im Notfall, etwa bei Stürzen oder Bedrohungen, kann der Benutzer einen Alarm auslösen, wodurch Vertrauenspersonen oder Rettungskräfte informiert werden. Ortung und Verwaltung erfolgen momentan (noch) ausschließlich über eine Weboberfläche.

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Entwicklung einer (nativen) mobilen App für die Ortung und Verwaltung des SmartSticks. Wichtigstes Feature ist dabei die Benachrichtigung per Push-Notification oder Klingelton, welche über die bisher genutzte Weboberfläche nicht möglich ist. Weitere Features können unter anderem sein: gleichzeitige Überwachung mehrerer SmartSticks, Batteriestandanzeige, Darstellung der aktuellen eigenen Position auf Karte, Standort-Historie der letzten 7 Tage, Konfiguration von Geo-Fences, etc.

Die Wahl einer Plattform für die App (Android oder iOS) kann in Absprache mit dem Verfasser getroffen werden. Die Entwicklung erfolgt in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der cibX GmbH.

App Development for the SmartStick (BA/MA)

In order to facilitate the everyday life of elderly people numerous helping tools have been created. The newest development in this area is the SmartStick, a smart walking cane from cibX GmbH. SmartStick can be used to take a walk like a regular cane and is additionally equipped with a GPS module, internet connectivity and an alarm button. In cases of emergency, like falls or threats, the user can trigger an alarm that informs trusted persons or rescue forces. The localization and configuration are handled through a web interface.

The goal of this thesis is the development of a (native) mobile app that manages the localization and configuration of the SmartStick. The most important feature is an improvement to the communication through push notifications or alarm ringtones, which is not possible in the hitherto used web interface. Further features could be: simultaneous monitoring of multiple SmartSticks, battery charge level indicator, visualization of the current own position on a map, location history of the last 7 days, configuration of geo fences, etc.

The choice of an app platform (Android or iOS) can be made in accordance with the preference of the author. The development will take place in close collaboration with cibX GmbH.
