Management and Governance Practices for Digital Success. An Exploratory Analysis of Boston Consulting Groups' "Digital Acceleration" Data Set
With digital technologies tranforming economy and society, they impose significant challenges and open up new opportunities to organizations and managers. Digitalization, thus, has become a key concern not only for managers but for researchers alike. The academic debate on digitalization so far, however, mainly deals with conceptual questions with large-scale empirical studies on the new and sweeping phenomenon of digitalisation still missing. In this situation, the The Boston Consulting Group has collected an extensive data set, the so-called Digital Acceleration Index (DAI). The DAI data set gives insight into how more than 2500 organisations adopt and manage digital technologies and associated challenges. The planned thesis aims at identifying successful and less successful practices for managing digitalization by analysing the DAI data set exploratively.
