Freestyle Learning: Concept, Platforms and Applications for Individual Learning Scenarios

vom Brocke J

Abstract

Freestyle Learning is the trademark of a new approach towards computer assisted learning and teaching (CAL+ CAT) invented by GROB/VOM BROCKE/LAHME at the Department of Information Systems at the University of Münster [1, 2, 3, 4]. It is build upon the very simple idea of improving learning scenarios by the use of information technology-in detail:(1) Derive (concrete) recommendations from didactic science,(2) analyse in which way new technology (really) can suite to reach them,(3) clarify solutions in an integrated concept for computer assisted learning,(4) let the concept come alive by implementing it, not only as (another) piece of software, but (5) as a generic platform to be easily adopted by various learning communities, so that (6) people are free to concentrate on knowledge-exploring, spreading and sharing it in learning networks.
