Abstract

This paper introduces the design knowledge knot, a novel framework designed to enhance the practicalimpact of design science research (DSR). Addressing the persistent gap between theoretical constructsand practical applications, this framework integrates knowledge flows, pathways, and transferstrategies within a cohesive structure to ensure actionable outcomes. By synthesizing input fromextensive DSR expert consultations and comprehensive literature reviews, the design knowledge knotprovides strategic guidance for researchers aiming to improve the relevance and applicability of theirwork. Unlike traditional DSR models, this framework emphasizes dynamic integration of stakeholderinsights and offers flexible pathways to adapt research processes to real-world needs. It encourages amore engaged approach to research, fostering significant advancements in both theory and practice. This framework not only advances the methodological foundations of DSR, but also serves as a bridgeto enhance its practical impact across various disciplines.
