From West Coast to Westphalia
Dr.-Ing. Rainer Böhme was appointed as Assistant Professor (Juniorprofessor) for IT Security at University of Münster's Department of Information Systems on September 1st, 2010. Therefore Dr. Böhme moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to the city of Münster in Germany. Prior to this position, he worked as Postdoctoral Fellow at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, California. Dr. Böhme's research interests include economics of information security and privacy as well as multimedia security. A common thread in his scientific work is the interdisciplinary approach to solve pressing IT security problems.
Rainer Böhme has taken up an appointment as professor for Security and Privacy at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) in March 2015. The IT Security Research Group stays operational in Münster.
