Extending the Twitter API: Development of a Python Tool for Research Projects on Social Media Data Analysis

Today, Twitter is one of the most prominent social media platforms targeted by research due to its easy-to-use open API. Still, Researchers can perform only some queries with specific parameters to receive data related to particular events and time frames. In this work, the student should explore the Twitter API, research its functionality, and implement a tool to perform more specific queries. In the end, the tool should support researchers in exploring current or past events happening on Twitter and extend the existing functionality of the official Twitter API. This thesis requires substantial knowledge of Python and a solid understanding of APIs.
