Zusammenfassung

Design Science Research (DSR) has extensively studied how organizations cope with constant change; however, existing contributions have largely focused on the design and management of processes at an operational level. Strategic decision making has received comparatively little attention, even though such decisions set the essential framework for organizational adaptability. In this research in progress paper, we extend DSR to provide support for strategic decision making in contexts of change. We present and evaluate the solution design of an AI Strategy Companion for strategic decision making, which is built on data derived from continuous conversations with senior decision makers about their experiences in dealing with change. We identify four design features for AI Strategy Companions and, based on an evaluation with strategic managers, derive five design requirements critical to their design. The results have implications for both research and practice and open up promising avenues for future research.
