Visit from Dr. Muzaffar Djalalov: Rector of INHA University in Tashkent

This week, we had the pleasure to welcome Dr. Muzaffar Djalalov, Rector of the INHA University in Tashkent, at our department. Inha is a private research university located in Incheon, South Korea. Known traditionally for research and education in the engineering and physical sciences, the university was established by the first president of South Korea, Syngman Rhee. Inha is a Korean-American collaboration school. Started as a polytechnic university in 1954, named Inha Institute of Technology,  the institute has been achieving national recognition and a strong reputation as a technological research university thereafter.  Inha University is the most well-known and #1 university in the Incheon area. Inha was ranked top 10 nationwide through decades according to annual rankings of South Korean universities; and ranked 8th in 2017.

Inha University in Tashkent or IUT  is a branch of the Korean Inha University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.  Inha University in Tashkent was established according to the resolution of the first president of the Republic of Uzbekistan. IUT is the result of cooperation between Inha University of Korea and the government of Uzbekistan to develop IT leaders. Inha University in Korea is oriented toward engineering, IT, management, logistics, etc. The curriculum and academic programs of Inha University in Tashkent are similar to those of its Korean counterpart.

In 2018, Dr. Muzaffar Djalalov was assigned as an acting Rector of INHA University in Tashkent, becoming the youngest Rector in the history of Uzbekistan. According to the “Yuksalish” movement, Muzaffar Djalalov was included in the TOP-35 of young leaders of the country. Dr. Muzaffar Djalalov met our rector, Prof. Johannes Wessels, this week and gave an interesting talk about his University and Uzbekistan's IT education strategy and academic-industry partnership.
