Unexpected trailer breakdowns are costly and delay the journey for trailer manufacturers and their customers. To improve maintenance scheduling and foresee future maintenance needs, a group of seven students collaborated with the market-leading trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull as part of the master project seminar “Intelligent Maintenance Solutions”. The students investigated sensor data to determine the health of the trailer and predict future breakdowns.
In the summer term 2019, a group of eight students participated in a project seminar organized by the chair of information Systems and Supply Chain Management in cooperation with BENTELER Automotive in Paderborn. The project objective was the selection of suitable machines for predictive maintenance and the implementation of a predictive maintenance approach by estimating future machine failures.
