Strategic relevance of publication data for Higher Education Institutions
Higher education institutions (HEI) like unversities continue to set up central databases to collect and store publication data of their affiliated researchers. The increasing importance of this data is discussed controversially in the academic community. Yet, at the same time, the data offers a rich source of insights to inform strategy formulation at a various levels of a HEI.
The purpose of this thesis is to explore the strategic relevance of publication data for HEI.
