For numerous innovative and exploratory research issues in management, economics and IS, qualitative research is an adequate approach. The course reflects some of the methodological and epistemological underpinnings of qualitative research and examines the research process as well as research design. It introduces a number of qualitative research methods, such as ethnographic research and participatory observation, action research or case studies, as well as data collection techniques (e.g. interviews, focus groups, digital methods).
