Student assistant wanted for further developing a crowdsourcing tool for crisis situation assessment

The Chair for Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at the Department of Information Systems of the WWU Münster offers a position as of now for a Master’s level student assistant (5-10 hours per week) to support web and mobile information systems development.

Your task will be to further develop the existing prototype of a Web and mobile enabled information system for model-driven mobile assessment and crowdsourcing for humanitarian logistics: MoMAC. In particular, the MoMAC prototype supports rapid needs assessment featuring community involvement and social media analysis in connection with the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS). GDACS provides near real-time alerts about natural disasters around the world and tools to facilitate response coordination, including media monitoring, map catalogues and Virtual On-Site Operations Coordination Centre. The mobile application runs on Android, and the server is powered by Ruby on Rails. In the future, the MoMAC system is intended to be used in research projects and to be deployed in field exercises with disaster management organizations.
