Research Focus

In the recent past new technologies and concepts, which are being defined as Social Media, have changed the area of applications of the internet especially with regard to communication and collaboration.

The research group Communication and Collaboration Management deals with issues, which result from the massive dissemination of social media in science, corporations and society. For this purpose accruing (mass) data from social media is being collected and analyzed (social media intelligence). Furthermore potentials and barriers of an improved supply of information of employees and citizens are investigated (unified communication & collaboration) and the introduction process of social media in companies is viewed as "action research" and supervised (community engineering).

Social Media Intelligence

Social media have led to wide-ranging changes in public communication as well as between enterprises and customers. Whereas companies were equipped with the "speaker role" in public communication, they now obtain the possibility of publishing opinions and discussing them. As a result new requirements for companies arise in respect to the comprehension of this communication and the participation in it. read more...

Unified Communication & Collaboration

Unified communication & collaboration defines the consolidation of diversified communication channels and collaboration platforms in order to enable ubiquitous accessibility of knowledge workers. Creating platforms that integrate synchronous and asynchronous communication as well as collaboration tools (e.g. wikis, social network sites, micro blogging) improves the efficiency of the interconnectedness and the exchange of knowledge between employees, customers and citizens. read more...

Community Engineering

Social online-networks base on self-organization, voluntary participation and collaboration of the participants. At the same time tangible objectives in the field of B2C and B2B can be pursued such as customer integration, customer relationship management and the optimization of internal knowledge management or initial and continuing education and training scenarios.
