Postponement of presentations to thursday!

Dear attendees of WfM&PN,
due to the fact that Patrick and Sebastian are at the Skiseminar and I have a nice not so little cold, we'll shift your presentation to Thursday, as one single person - in this case Matthias - is not enough to adequately judge your models.
The content of thursdays lecture will be incorporated in the lecture on January 20th. Sorry for that. Please spread the word to those not having booked WfM&PN via uDoo.
To sum up: No lecture tomorrow, January 6th!
See you then (hopefully) on Thursday,

Armin

Final instructions for presentation on Tuesday

Hi everybody attending to the lecture WfM&PN!

First of all: A happy New Year and all the best for 2009!

This is a final reminder concerning your presentations on Tuesday. As we have 90 minutes of time and six groups, that makes 15 minutes sharp per presentation (and, as such, per group). These 15 minutes should consist of the presentation (10 minutes) and a short discussion about the model(s) (5 minutes). You don't have to do a live presentation, screenshots of Infinity are welcome. However, the models have to be readable ;-) The order of the presentations will be

* Cockatoo Airlines
Ekaterina Lunina, Natalia Leontyeva, Anna Lyamina, Tobias Otte, Dominic Breuker
* Germany's next top model
Florian Schmidt, Tobias Heide, Alexander Busch, Sebastian Dyck, Martin Schulz
* Iceberg Dynamics
Bjoern Lindahl, Kay Hildebrand, Peter Riehs, Nierste, Felix Potthoff
* PROFurniture
Anastasia Mochalova, Elena Gorbacheva, Daria Chizhikova, Maria Shitkova, Stefan Weber
* VegiFood
Nils Labusch, Justus Holler, Antorweep Chakravorty, Marcel Walter, Jan-Philipp Friedenstab
* WI Brew
Ingo Kregel, Sara Hofmann, Phillip Hansen, Annika Biermann, Johannes Püster

I would like to reference to point 5 of one of the last news:
5) What we would like to see is that you understand how Workflow Modelling works and how to derive Workflow Models from Business Processes. See your BPMN Models / Petri Nets as Business Processes. Now it is your task until January 6th to create the respective workflow models with the Infinity Modeller.

They don't have to be executable due to this date!

--> IMPORTANT <--
We don't want you to transfer *all* of your BPMN / PN Models to Workflow Models! Your strategic goal for February 3rd and 5th should be the presentation of a nice, interesting and expressive *Workflow* (in terms of a deployed and executable workflow model). This implies the usage of all kinds of activities (manual, automatic), roles and operators (split, join; xor, and) Infinity provides as well as data.

Take the following structure as guideline for your presentation (however, you don't have to stick to it! Other strucures are welcome, as long as they make sense!):
* Introduction of you company (1 minute)
* Selected Business Processes (3 minutes)
* Workflow Models (6 minutes)

Please use the opportunity to work together with other groups, if you like. This is not a contest where you should work against eachother but rather with eachother. Please make exhaustive usage of the Infinity reference shipped with the product. And, as final point: Firstly, we don't want you to write top class Java applications realizing the whole ERP of a furniture company and secondly we don't want you to write thousands of classes. Again: This is more like a proof of understanding! So don't go bananas due to the *expected* workload. More on this on Tuesday.

So long and all the best,

Armin and the Wfm&PN-Team

Java 1.4 or 1.5 required for Infinity

One thing I forgot to mention: To install Infinity, it's required to have Java 1.4 or 1.5 installed. Newer versions of Java won't work! Thanks Jan-Philipp for the reminder!

Final exam

Contrary to the announcement of the examination office (PAM), the final exam of WfM & Petri Nets will take 90 minutes - not 60 minutes. The announcement will be changed by the examination office as soon as possible.

Exercise and Workflow Engine

Due to several questions concerning the exercise:

1a) Please book our lecture as uDoo-Favorite (<http://udoo.uni-muenster.de/modules/myAccount/favourites.php5?addType=s&addID=108>), because we'll communicate the availability of news and new downloads via uDoo (<http://udoo.uni-muenster.de>) from now on.

1b) All material will be provided via <http://www.wi.uni-muenster.de/is/studieren/vorlesung/wfm-pn_ws-200809/> form now on. However, you'll find the information on your Start Page in uDoo and you'll be informed via email, once you booked it.
2) The Download Location for the Infinity Process Platform is: <http://pcwi2007.uni-muenster.de/Infinity.rar>
3) The password for the file is **********
4) DON'T download the trial from Sungards Web Site! No, no, no! We'll get in real trouble if you do so ;-)
5) What we would like to see is that you understand how Workflow Modelling works and how to derive Workflow Models from Business Processes. See your BPMN Models / Petri Nets as Business Processes. If you should have any further questions, feel free to contact either Patrick, Armin, Matthias or Sebastian.
All the best,
Beckers WfM&PN staff

Übungen

Beschreibung
