The goals of this course are to familiarize the audience with the problems, issues, solutions, techniques, tools, and applications relating to MIS and DWH, to get some hands-on experience with online analytical processing (OLAP) as well as extraction-transformation-loading (ETL) processes, and to understand the issues involved in "good" data warehouse design, both from a conceptual and from a practical point of view.

Vorlesung

Beschreibung

The first part (DWH) of the course is held by the chair of Prof. Dr. Vossen. You can find the corresponding web page here.

The second part (MIS) of the course is held by our chair of Prof. Dr. Becker and covers conceptual modeling of OLAP systems using H2 for Reporting and other modeling languages. The models are then practically implemented to an OLAP solution using IBM Cognos 8 BI.

The second part (MIS) starts on November 30, 2010.
