Application deadlines
For the summer term (starting 1 Apr) the
application period for Non-EU applicants is 1 November to 30 November. For all other applicants the application period is 1 November to 15 January.
For the winter term (starting 1 Oct) the application period for Non-EU applicants is 1 May to 31 May. For all other applicants the application period is 1 May to 15 July.
The online application is available here from 1 May.
Application Process
- Wait for your application period to arrive.
- Follow the link to the application portal. This link will be available on this page only during the application period.
- Fill out the online application and upload all your documents in digital form.
- Print out the pdf you will receive after completing the online application.
- Mail all documents including the printed-out pdf to the address stated on the printout. The documents have to arrive before the end of the application period.
- Wait for your result. You will be notified through the application system.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (minimum three year program)
- Studies in Information Systems, Business Computing or similar courses related to Computer Science, Business Administration, etc.
- Fundamental skills in Information Systems (process modeling), Computer Science (data modeling and software engineering), Quantitative Methods (operations research and statistics) and Business Administration
- Sufficient English language skills (no German skills required for the course, however useful for everyday life)
Language skills
The table below shows examples of acknowledged language certificates and the respective minimum score fulfilling the
language requirements. Please note that the language requirements are compulsory, which means that without fulfilling our terms mentioned below, no admission can be granted.

Our TOEFL institution code is 4740. We are also registered for IELTS.
This list is not complete. Other certificates rating the applicant's proficiency in English on the level C1 of the Common European Framework of
Reference for Languages are also accepted. Furthermore, you fulfil the language requirements by being a native speaker or having
lived in an English-speaking country for at least 1 year. Additionally, if you completed a study fully conducted in an English-speaking country which you can prove by presenting a certificate of your university, you will also fulfil the language requirements. If only your medium of construction was English, but the country was not, you will need other proof of proficiency.
Document List
- Abitur, or any comparable high school certificate
- Bachelor's degree or a list of courses covering 140 ECTS from a bachelor program
- transcript of records, diploma supplement (please calculate a weighted average overall grade and add a grade scale with labels, if the grades were obtained outside of Germany)
- detailed course description (this is NOT your transcript of records) of your bachelor program (you should have a look at the example of the course description and use this template - if you decide not to use our template, please make sure to add the average overall grade to your transcript of records)
- Letter of motivation (single page), especially covering your favorite track
- Curriculum vitae
- any proficiency certificate in English (according to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) (as described here)
- more documents showing a special interest in/qualification for IS.
These documents have to be sent to the student's office within the application period. Documents arriving after the deadline cannot be taken into account. If any of the documents are not written in English or German, you have to add a translation. Please note that all copies or translations of original documents need to be authorized by an official seal and signature of an institution (e.g. your university) that proves correctness of the copy.
