Research Statement
"Practicing inter-disciplinarity defines the core of my research activities. During my Master and PhD studies in Information Systems (above all together with Prof. Dr. Joerg Becker) and in Political Science (above all together with Prof. Dr. Paul Kevenhoerster), I was able to familiarize myself with a rich variety of research approaches, methodologies, and theory perspectives. To me, the main challenge lies in fruitfully combining these perspectives in order to reframe, reformulate, or redefine “traditional” research views. For instance, I seek to integrate design science-approaches and social science research in the move of my SchumpeterFellowship-based project on ICT & Aging. Another example, with my Habilitation Thesis on “Business Process Governance” I seek to exploit actor-oriented and political science-based theories for redefining business process management (BPM) in networks. Here, philosophically-sound research and intensive collaboration with scholars from across different disciplines, to me, are key success factors."
