Niklas Luhmann is one of the most popular sociologists in the German area. His theory about social systems got worldwide reputation. The wide spread information about his work ends quickly when you have a look at IS research. Here his theories got only little attention. Based on a comprehensive literature review the subject offers a detailed analysis of Luhmanns theories applied in IS research.

All the literature input was already done in the past, so that a candidate can directely begin with the analysis of the documents. Beside the document analysis, another central task of the thesis is the development of future application szenarios of Luhmanns theories.
